Hideto Matsumoto, aka Hide, was born on December 13th 1964 in Yakosuka. When he was young, he was over-weight and gets teased often by his fellow classmates. Hide wasn't like every other boy, instead of sports (which he dislikes) he took piano and calligraphy lessons. And by primary 4, his parents sent him here to America for awhile and that was when he was introduced to rock. He first started to listen to the rock-band Kiss, and soon brought his very first guitar which was a Gibson after he took interest in rock music.

When he came back to Japan, he formed his own rock band called Saver Tiger, but the band wasn't so successful because of Hide's strict rules and band members keep coming and going. Then one day, Hide recieves a phone call from Yoshiki, the leader of a rock group called X, and Yoshiki asked Hide if he would like to join X, and Hide agreed. This was the beginning of rise in Hide's career as a rock musician.

While he was with X Japan, whom changed their name from X to X Japan, Hide also worked on a few solo projects which produced singles such as Eyes Love You and Goodbye. He released his first solo album in 1994, called Hide Your Face which instantly became popular. During the next few years, Hide produced many singles on his own.

After the disband of X Japan in 1997, Hide went on to form his own group Spread Beaver, but sadly he would never achieve as high as he probably wanted to go. On May 2nd, 1988, Hide was found hanging from a door in his apartment. He had commited suicide, or at least that was what the press and the media said. Many fans and friends did not believe this, since Hide had so much in mind to do for the future. He was announced dead at 8:52 AM.

When the news of his death reached his fans, too many where shocked and struck with grief. Many then visited his grave site on the day of his funeral, bringin flowers and saying prayers for him. His grave site is in Yokosuka on Miura. But his ashes where brought over here to LA and was thrown into the ocean. But his legacy doesn't end there. The fans will always remember him and his talents.
